If I Can Do It, Anyone Can!
In 2010 a friend of mine signed me up for my first triathlon. In the lead up to the race I got pneumonia and when I was tested doctors were concerned I had an enlarged heart. After a series of tests I found out I had high blood pressure and high cholesterol and I was only 24... The first triathlon didn't go so well taking 4 hours and 5 minutes to complete the 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run. I weighed well over 120kgs.
Today I regularly complete triathlons and I am getting faster and faster. In 2016 I represented Australia at the Iron Man 70.3 World Championships . Oh and I have lost over 50kg's. So many people have asked about my journey. How I lost all my weight, how I train for triathlon and what I want to achieve so I figured I might as well start to write it all down.
One of the most common questions I get asked is "What is the secret?". The truth is that there is no secret, there is no miracle diet. There is hard work, healthy lifestyle choices and commitment. I know how hard it is as I am living it everyday. I went through the process of not being able to run 200 metres to running marathons and completing triathlons. I have managed to lose weight and keep it off.
I completed my law degree in Sydney at the University of New South Wales and work as an athlete manager with MANA Group and do a bit of coaching on the side. I truly believe that triathlon is the greatest sport on earth. It gave me my life back!
